My favorite day trip from Las Vegas was to Valley Of Fire State Park. It is one of those places that is so unique and breathtaking. There are many scenic trails to explore and amazing photo locations. There is a $10 entry fee per car and the park is pet friendly. If you’re in Las Vegas, rent a car and head to Valley Of Fire for a fun day of exploring!
When To Visit Valley Of Fire
You can visit Vally Of Fire year round, but know that the summertime can be dangerously hot and may not be as enjoyable. Arrive at sunrise to avoid the horrendous heat. I went in November and the weather was perfect all day!

How Much Time To Spend At Valley Of Fire State Park
Valley of Fire is only 1 hour away from Las Vegas, making it the perfect day trip! The state park is also relatively small so you can definitely see the most popular sites in one day.
Best Things To Do at Valley Of Fire State Park
Fire Wave
Start your day with the most well-known hike at Valley Of Fire. The Fire Wave is an easy 1.5-mile round trip walk to an incredible view of a cool rock in the shape of a wave with stunning fire-colored stripes. This is a really popular hike, so arrive early to avoid the crowds!
Mouse’s Tank Road
Right around Mouse’s Tank Parking lot, there is a small area off the road that can fit a few cars. Park here and climb onto the boulder to get this famous shot of Mouse’s Tank Road.
Elephant Rock
You can actually see the Elephant Rock from the road, but I suggest you take the quick 0.3-mile walk up to admire this cute rock. You can see the elephant sitting and its trunk.
Atlatl Rock
Another quick, but interesting stopping point! Here, you will find a huge boulder with ancient petroglyphs that are over 4000 years old.
Arch Rock
This stop doesn’t require a hike. Just park your car and cross the road to check out Arch Rock. It was honestly an underwhelming stop compared to all the other places we’ve explored, but since it was a minute away from Atlatl Rock, we decided to check it out.
More Valley Of Fire Hikes
Other hikes that are worth mentioning are White Domes Trail, Rainbow Vista, and Pastel Pink Canyon. We only had so many hours at Valley Of Fire before we had to head back to Las Vegas for a reservation! I wish we had more time to check them out, so make sure to plan an entire day here!
Taking a quick day trip to Valley Of Fire was a highlight of my trip to Las Vegas. I hope you get to experience this incredible State Park filled with stunning scenic trails and ancient petroglyphs!
