Las Vegas may be known for casinos and drinking, but there are many other entertaining things to do! This city has a wide variety of activities for all ages. I’ve put together a list of fun things to do in Las Vegas for non-gamblers.
Area 15
Area 15 was such a unique location. It is free to enter, but costs vary for each attraction. From a bird flying simulator to ziplining, arcade games, and art exhibits, you will not be bored! It was such a blast and it is fun for any age.
See A Show
One of my top suggestions would be to go see a show! Check out vegas.com to explore all the best shows and book online ahead of time! We went to America’s Got Talent and Criss Angel Mindfreak. Both were awesome shows and I highly recommend them! Other shows that were highly recommended were Absinthe and any of the Cirque Du Soleil Shows.
Eiffel Tower Viewing Deck
This is the perfect place to see the strip from above. You also have a great view of the Bellagio Fountain Show! It’s open 7 days a week from 2:00-10:00 pm.
Walk The Las Vegas Strip
No better way to take in Las Vegas than walking the strip. From the Bellagio Fountain and Mirage Volcano Show, to people watching. You can even take a drink on the go, as long as it is in a plastic container (no glass). Even taking a walk through all the hotels is fascinating. Each one has a theme and they perfectly execute it. I loved walking through The Venetian, Bellagio, and Ceasars Palace.
Bellagio Fountain
While taking a walk on the strip, stop to watch the Bellagio Fountain Show! Be sure to check the show times here. It is such a magical water show that plays along with the music. The streams of water reach 460 feet in the air. It is so powerful!!
Fremont Street
My favorite street in Las Vegas is Fremont Street! There will be performers everywhere you look, including 3 concert stages that have live entertainment each night. On our very last night, we were lucky enough to be there during a free Flo Rida concert (The Great Onesie Bar Crawl: Drinksgiving 2022). Such an awesome night! Another cool experience on Fremont Street is SlotZilla Zipline, a 1,700-foot zipline that takes you over the famous pedestrian street.
Scooter Rental
We booked the self-guided electric scooters through Atomic Tours. This is a cool way to see all the artwork around downtown Las Vegas. They also have a few fun guided tours that are worth checking out!
High Roller
Check out United States’ largest observation wheel reaching a height of 550 feet tall. The experience is 30 minutes long so you really get to enjoy the views from every angle. It costs $26-$28 USD depending on the day you visit.
The Big Apple Roller Coaster
Are you looking for a thrill? Head to the second level of New York – New York and try out this roller coaster. You start with a 144-foot drop and reach speeds of 67m/hr with lots of hills, loops, and corkscrews. I wasn’t expecting much from this ride but I truly enjoyed it! It is a bit expensive at $19 USD but they do offer day passes if you would like to ride more than once.
Las Vegas Welcome Sign
Head to the iconic Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign and snap a photo here! It gets extremely crowded during the day, so head there first thing in the morning or late at night.
Seven Magic Mountain
Seven Magic Mountain is an art exhibit located in the middle of the desert, just 37 minutes away from Las Vegas. It is a great photo location, but it does get busy during the day, so it is best to arrive early in the morning.
Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Gardens
The Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Gardens is located inside the lobby of the Bellagio Hotel. It transforms 5 times a year: Chinese New Year, Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter. This 14,000-square-foot room has some of the most beautiful floral pieces I have ever seen! I went around the end of November and it was freshly set up for Christmas.
Neon Museum
Neon Museum is the place where Las Vegas neon signs go to retire. There are over 150 signs here at the “boneyard park”. We went during sunset and it was the perfect lighting for pictures!
Day Trip
If you have a few extra days in Las Vegas, rent a car and head out on an adventure.
- Hoover Dam: A quick 40-minute drive from Las Vegas to the incredible Dam that borders the states of Nevada and Arizona.
- Grand Canyon: Specifically the West Rim as it is the closest rim to Las Vegas – roughly 2.5 hours from Las Vegas.
- Valley Of Fire State Park: Just 45 minutes from the strip, you will be surrounded by red Aztec Sandstone and 2000-year-old petroglyphs.
- Death Valley National Park: This park has a wide variety of terrain, from salt flats to colorful rocks, sand dunes, and more! It is a 2-hour drive, but definitely worth it if you have the time.
Las Vegas is much more than drinking and gambling and definitely a fun city that caters to all ages!
